About Land Use Boards & Commissions
The City of Columbia’s land use boards and commissions are made up of resident volunteers, appointed by City Council, who play a vital role in shaping our city.
These groups are responsible for reviewing development plans, making land use policy decisions, and facilitating the research and discussion essential for Columbia’s continued prosperity. Some boards act as the final authority on specific parts of the Zoning Ordinance, while others offer recommendations and advice to the City Council.
We believe that community involvement is key to effective planning. All meetings are open to the public, and your participation is strongly encouraged. Most boards meet on a set monthly schedule, though some meet quarterly or as needed.
We have open Boards and Commissions positions!
